The Program's main goals are to:

• Train qualified professionals capable of contributing to the development of the Information Technology area in Minas Gerais and Brazil, as well as acting as professors at higher education institutions or continuing their studies in doctoral courses or post-doctoral levels.

• Develop research that contributes to the continuous advancement of scientific and technological knowledge in the field of Computer Science. In particular, it is expected that the Program's alumni have mastery and understanding of the fundamentals and basic theories of Computer Science.

• Integrate Teaching, Research and Extension in the Institution.

• Bring the University and society closer with a view to exchanging knowledge and transferring technology to contribute to the social and economic development of the State of Minas Gerais and Brazil.
